Performance Analysis of Asynchronous Hierarchical-Bus Multiprocessor Systems Using Closed Queuing Network Models
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents an analysis for measuring performance of asynchronous packet switched hierarchical and multiplc-bus multiprocessor systems. T h e performance was measured using both the analytical and simulation models. The performance measured from the analytical model was found to be very close to the performance measured from the simulation model. The performance of a hierarchical bus system has been found to be far better than that of an equivalent multiple-bus system for non-uniform memory reference systems. When multiple parallcl buses or high speed buses are used a t the higher Icvcls. a hierarchical bus system becomes as good as a multiplc bus system (with the same number of buses) for gcncral purpose computations, although the cost of the hierarchical bus system is significantly lower than the cost of a multiple bus system.

Comparison of the Performance of Two Service Disciplines for a Shared Bus Multiprocessor with Private Caches
In this paper, we compare two analytical models for evaluation of cache coherence overhead of a shared bus multiprocessor with private caches. The models are based on a closed queuing network with different service disciplines. We find that the priority discipline can be used as a lower-level bound. Some numerical results are shown graphically.
متن کاملComparison of analytic performance models using closed mean-value analysis versus open-queuing theory for estimating cycles per instruction of memory hierarchies
Analytic models provide a simple but approximate method for predicting the performance of complex processing systems early in the design cycle. Over the years, extensive use has been made of various queuing models to analyze the memory hierarchies of multiprocessor systems in order to estimate the finite cache penalty and resulting system performance measured in cycles per instruction executed....
متن کاملOptimal Reconfiguration of Distribution Network for Power Loss Reduction and Reliability Improvement Using Bat Algorithm
In power systems, reconfiguration is one of the simplest and most low-cost methods to reach many goals such as self-healing, reliability improvement, and power loss reduction, without including any additional components. Regarding the expansion of distribution networks, communications become more complicate and the number of parameters increases, which makes the reconfiguration problem infeasib...
متن کاملMulti-perspective Decision Support System for Hierarchical Bus Transportation Network Design: Tehran Case Study
In this paper, a multi-perspective decision support system (MP-DSS) to design hierarchical public transportation network is developed. Since this problem depends on different perspectives, MP-DSS consists of two sub-systems with macro and micro sub-systems based on travel information, land use and expert knowledge. In the micro sub-system, two sub-modules are developed considering o...
متن کاملMultiprocessor Performability Analysis
Conclusions Performability models of multiprocessor systems and their evaluation are presented. Two cases in which hierarchical modeling is applied are examined. 1. Models are developed to analyze the behavior of processor arrays of various sizes in the presence of permanent, transient, intermittent, and near-coincident faults. Models can be generated for typical reconfiguration schemes that co...
